Well, it’s long overdue – but here’s my first post. I will try to explain a bit how the grid system generator started and what’s coming up!

A few months ago I finally made my first effort to start using a grid system for one of my web projects. I had been looking at various grid systems before but never took that first step.

After some research I decided to start out with the 960.gs grid system. One of the problems I found was that my existing design didn’t fit the 960.gs measurements. So I had two options:

Rebuild my design to fit the grid system OR

Rebuild the grid system to fit my design.

As you can see with this site, I decided to create a generator that would calculate the measurements based on my input and create a nice / clean css file that would work with my existing design.

Happy with the final result I figured it could help other people as well so I created this website to host the generator.

After letting Nathan Smith know about it, he sent one tweet out and since that time the site is frequently visited by many people.

The generator has gone through a couple of iterations – adding functionality, changing design and layout and adding new grid system generators as well.

I will continue to build this website and add more generators and resources when I find some spare time.

If you feel there is something missing or perhaps you know of some great resource that can help others, please use this form to submit one! If you like – I will also put your name / URL in the post.

Oh – and Wordpress rules, I ditched my custom CMS that I worked on for a LONG time!
